Electric Biology series was inspired by the most complex organ in a vertebrate's body, the brain. Information from the sense organs is collected in the brain, whose activity governs behavior, language and consciousness. The prints were produced in sequence, where color and composition act as signifies of the active brain tissue generating electric fields. Many of the prints feature Aldine, a serif typeface designed in 1870, a popular 19th century typeface, letterpress printed using wood type.
Selected pieces from this series, including animated work, will be on display at The Center for Book Arts in New York City from July 12 to September 23, 2017.
